MAY
Our Second Newsletter.
Well, this is our second of many-to-come newsletters. May is upon us. Graduation
preparations are already underway. School will be out before we know it and we will have
our brand new Year 2000 Graduates. It is also time to start finalizing those vacation
plans.
Kids and the Internet.
It doesnt take long for the kiddos to get bored once schools out. They
will be looking for things to do within the first few weeks. The computer seems to be one
of those "while-away-the-hours" sort of entertainment and the internet is the
first place they want to go. There are so many wonderful websites designed for children
and monitored to contain safe content for children. Many sites stress educational
activities and creative concepts. But, there are also websites that contain content not
suitable for children. If you are concerned about questionable web content, the Texas
Internet Service Providers Association (TISPA) has very valuable and updated information
about content filtering. They offer information on websites and links to downloadable
software. Its a great place to start!
DSL
.all the buzz.
We are sure by now that youve heard about DSL. Well, we have been offering
Business DSL in the communities of Seguin, Luling, Gonzales, and New Braunfels. DSL
(Digital Subscriber Line) uses ordinary copper phone wires to bring you extremely fast
data connections. It is always on, always connected, with no per-user or time limit
charges. This means that you can have easy access to the Internet to be more productive in
the workplace, and the games and video you want at home are more enjoyable. Geographical
location (as with all providers) is important to availability. Please call to verify
availability. If you have any questions about DSL, feel free to contact us.
Speeding up your login.
Weve found a simple way to speed up the "log on to network" process.
If this process takes over a minute, then this will definitely quicken the process for
you.
- Double-click on My Computer on your Desktop.
- Double-click on Dial-Up Networking.
- Right-click on THE-CIA (this may be named differently)
- Left-click on Properties
- Click on the Server Types tab at the top.
- Remove the check in front of both "log on to network" and
"enable software compression"
- Click OK
That should do it! If you want to test it out, you can double-click
on THE-CIA right there, confirm your username and password, and click connect.
May Special!
Due to its popularity, our Refer-a-Friend offer has
been extended through May 31st! In addition, for new customers, we will waive the
activation fee if you show proof of service with another provider!
