Our 2000-2001 school year is underway. The new football season is beginning. Fall is on its way, but the heat is still on. The day to celebrate the laborers of our country is here and we at THE-CIA.net wish you a fun and safe Labor Day and a great September!

Checking your Time Left?
For our Basic Internet Users (50 hours per month), you can now check to see how much time you have left for the month on our website, www.the-cia.net. Type in your username and password, click on the Check Time Left button, and it will tell you how many minutes you have left for the month. This allows you to keep tabs on how much time you are actually spending on the internet. We hope you find this service useful and utilize it often. This service will not work for those of you on our unrestricted access plans.

Weekly system maintenance.
Saturday mornings from 9am to 1pm are reserved for important System Maintenance Tasks, Back-Ups, and Diagnostics. Not all systems will be down during this time. If you experience difficulties connecting on Saturday morning, please wait 15 minutes, then try again. if you are still not connecting, feel free to give us a ring. We can let you know if our maintenance is affecting your connection.

Our accounting system.
When you sign up with THE-CIA.net, we initiate you account to be due on the same day of the next month, quarter, or year, however you chose to sign up. So, if you signed up on the 22nd, your due date will be the 22nd of each month, quarter, or year. You should receive an invoice in the mail at least 14 days before the due date on your account. Our automatic accounting system gives you 5 days past your due date before your account is actually disabled. We are aware that the U.S. Mail can be slow. Our technicians, however, will not be aware if your account has been disabled due to the automatic nature of this accounting system. If you feel you are not logging in for this reason, please inform the technician you speak with. They can look up your account information to confirm the status. If you have questions about your account, feel free to call us, we will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

Being informed about your modem.
We have found a valuable website that contains information on almost every make and model of modems. It is good to be informed and understand the role your modem plays in your internet connection. Many times, understanding that role will aid in understanding connection issues you may be concerned about or experiencing. The web address is www.56K.com. It contains alot of information, so our advice is to go to the site with a specific question in mind. Possibly a 56K update for your modem, or advice on purchasing a new modem, or how to speed up or slow down your modem. We understand that all of this information may be a little overwhelming, but definitely worth the visit to this site.
